The wind ensemble is unique in that it is a true wind ensemble. That means that there is only one person on each part. The W.E. is the top wind band at Chaparral and consistently receives superior ratings at festival. The group is audition only and plays a variety of advanced level music in a variety of styles and genres.
Chaparral Wind Symphony

The Wind Symphony is the top traditional wind band at Chaparral. This group is audition only and performs a wide variety of styles of music at an advanced level.


Chaparral Symphonic Band

The Chaparral Symphonic band provides the fundamentals and support that our young musicians need to move to the next level becoming proficient on their instruments and in different styles and genres. This group is open to ALL Chaparral students without an audition.

Chaparral Beginning Band

Don’t play an instrument? Cannot read music? NO PROBLEM we can teach you! Many of the students who begin with us in beginning band end up in our top ensemble, making regional and all state bands, and even earning talent based college scholarships.
Chaparral Jazz Black

This is the top jazz ensemble at Chaparral and is audition only. Students in this ensemble play professional level music, improvise their own music and are in high demand across Las Vegas. The group consistently receives praise and high marks at local and national festivals.


Chaparral Jazz Orange

Jazz Orange is the place to learn all of the fundamental skills of jazz and how to play it. We give students everything they need to begin to improvise and express themselves through jazz.

Cowboy Pride Marching Band

The Cowboy Pride Marching Band is the spirit and the pride of Chaparral High School. The band provides atmosphere at every home football game, pep rally and many school events. The band is hired out several times a year by groups who want to change the atmosphere of their event. This group is the “whole entertainment package” not just providing outstanding music but a visual program and energy that lights up any venue they are in. The group puts on a themed field show each year that is sure to knock you socks off!

Chaparral Percussion

From Drumline and Front Ensemble for the Cowboy Pride Marching Band to Percussion Ensembles there is plenty happening for percussionists at Chaparral. Our state champion percussionists have performed with Taylor Swift at the Billboard Awards and with Osuna at the Latin Grammys!


Chaparral Color Guard

The color guard uses dance, flag, rifle, sabre, and props to add a colorful and unique visual interpretation of the music played by the Cowboy Pride Marching Band. Students are taught to use their body and their equipment to express the meaning of the music and add color and variety to the marching band’s musical and visual program.
